Sicily's most beautiful beaches

Have you already booked your summer holidays?

If you are still undecided, I am here today to remove all your doubts about your ideal destination: Sicily.

One of the island's prides is undoubtedly the breathtaking views and especially the beaches.

Sicily boasts numerous coastlines that attract the attention of many visitors, given its crystal-clear water and fine, golden sand.

But not all its beaches are equal and to decide which one is right for you, here are our top 8:

  • Mondello: We start the beach tour from the big capital, Palermo. A few kilometres from the centre is the famous Mondello beach, a wide bay enclosed between Monte Gallo and Monte Pellegrino. Warm, crystal-clear waters, fine sand and lots of nightlife!

  • Scopello: A small natural paradise located between Castellammare del Golfo and San Vito Lo Capo. Scopello is home to a series of coves overlooking sheer cliffs! Transparent waters, lidos and the evocative panorama provided by the faraglioni (stacks) located right in front of the ancient tonnara (tuna fishery).

  • Scala dei Turchi: Ad Agrigento, a historical city full of architectural beauty is one of the most popular beaches! The Scala dei Turchi rises sheer above the sea and has become an attraction thanks to its unique, white, characteristically shaped cliffs and also thanks to the famous Commissario Montalbano written by Andrea Camilleri, a native of nearby Porto Empedocle.

  • Isola Bella: How not to know Taormina, known for its grand Ancient Theatre and its 'Bella Isola', which is now a nature reserve. Just a short distance from the coast of Taormina, connected by only a strip of sand, is a small, world-famous island. Super recommended, the boat excursion around the coast!

  • Zingaro Reserve: In the province of Trapani lies the Zingaro Reserveprotected natural area. For those who want to combine the sea with a bit of trekking, it is the perfect destination. Its 7 beaches and coves can be reached by footpaths with spectacular views of the coastline.

  • Rabbit Island: favourite destination for sea turtles Caretta Caretta to lay their eggs, the Rabbit Island (Lampedusa) has been decreed the most beautiful beach in the world. You may think you are in the Maldives, but no it is not Sicily! Located in the Pelagie Islands archipelago, the completely rocky Isola dei Conigli has waters that turn from emerald green to cobalt blue!

Last but not least:

  • San Vito lo Capoblue waters and white sand, colours that are also reflected in the local houses, a must if you come to visit!

  • Red Cove (Favignana): although in the past it was the site of bloody battles between the Romans and Carthaginians (hence the name), today Cala Rossa is an idyllic beach, easily accessible by sea, boat or through a very picturesque path.

Pack your costume and we'll be waiting for you in Sicily!
