For the preparation of this dessert you need a few simple ingredients and the hazelnut cream for the filling
To prepare the basic dough for the braid, it is convenient to use the planetary mixer or the thermomix. If you use the Thermomix the ingredients can be weighed at the time of insertion and it will not be necessary to heat the milk and soften the lard as this step can take place in the jug at 40 ° for 20 seconds speed 1. If you use a planetary mixer, the milk it must be lukewarm and the lard previously softened. Therefore, this first step involves mixing milk, lard and sugar for about 1/2 minute (with the thermomix speed 1). Then add the egg and the brewer's yeast. Mix for another 20 seconds (with the thermomix speed 1). Add the flour and salt (with the Thermomix 4 minutes at ear speed; with the planetary mixer 5 minutes of processing).
Transfer the dough to a bowl after forming a ball and cover it with a cloth. Leave to rise for 2 hours, until doubled.
Once it has risen, take the dough and divide it into three equal parts. Roll out each of the parts with a rolling pin, forming rectangles.
Fill each of them with the hazelnut cream, create cylinders by carefully rolling them on themselves without letting the cream come out, closing both ends. The three rolls must then be joined at the ends at the top to be able to intertwine them and thus give shape to the braid.
Arrange on a baking sheet on baking paper and leave to rise for 30 minutes. Bake in a convection oven at 180 ° for the first 10 minutes, then lower the temperature to 160 ° and bake for about another 20 minutes.
Remove from the oven and sprinkle with vanilla icing sugar.
